Meet the Clinicians:
Katie is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and has been practicing clinically since 2007. She provides individual and family or couples coaching for adults facing a variety of issues. Every therapist works differently, and Katie sees her role to be to come beside each client, work together to get really clear about all aspects of what is going on in the here and now, then work to identify where the client wants to be instead, and walk beside them from point A to point B. Katie takes a down to earth approach, looks at mind, body and spiritual factors, and is a solutions focused clinician.
Emily Sparks, LCSW
Emily is a licensed clinical social worker who has been in the helping profession since 2007! She obtained her BSW and MSW from Florida State University‘s college of social work and has practiced in many diverse settings.
She has clinical experience with military families, aging and end-of-life care, child and adolescent behavior, as well as couple counseling. Emily believes in meeting clients where they are and being a companion in their journey of self improvement. Emily uses a variety of therapy modalities to include cognitive behavior therapy, art therapy, narrative therapy, and “walk and talks” as well as other physical activities while providing therapeutic care.

Do You Need Therapy?
There are many signs you need therapy. It is up to you to decide if you need therapy, but it is important to know that getting help sooner can save you lots of pain. Many people struggle on their own for years before seeking therapy. Unnecessarily suffering from depression, anxiety, and other conditions that limit their quality of life.
You may need therapy if you are experiencing:
- Withdrawing from relationships with loved ones
- Obsessive thoughts worrying about the future
- Losing interest in activities you once enjoyed
- Sleeping or eating too much or not enough
- Using a behavior or substance to cope with negative emotions
- Frequent emotional outbursts
- Neglecting responsibilities (parenting, school, work, chores)
- Feel hopeless, suicidal, or isolated
These are signs that you are suffering from anxiety or depression and need immediate therapy. It is a serious situation that is not likely to get better on its own.
Therapy Is not Just for Crisis
There are multiple benefits to seeking therapy even when everything is going well. Even if there are not any major issues that you need to work on; you can still work on smaller things! Some smaller examples are the inability to budget or using shopping list therapy, it could be difficulty communicating with friends and loved ones or simply time management. These things may not ruin your life but they are very capable of stealing happiness!
